Infineon Technologies Trutnov, a well known fibre optic cables and transducers producer, will be closed by 30 June 2006. The company was established in January 2000 as a subsidiary of Infineon Holding B.V. based in the Netherlands. About 250 employees have already been dismissed and the remaining 200 people are to be laid off when the company closes. Some employees hope to get a job after Siemens VDO takes over the plant in July 2006. Siemens will produce electrical components for the car industry and intends to create at least 100 jobs.
