Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Žaņa Lagzdiņa maizes fabrika, one of the oldest bread producers in Latvia, was closed last week. The reasons given were fast increase of production costs on one side and pressure from supermarkets on the other side. The owner of the enterprise was optimistic about the fate of his former employees: "There is a big interest in available employees from other bread producers".
