Description
Philipp Morris announced to cut 200 jobs at its Dresden cigarette manufacturing plant. The job reduction plans will predominately affect temporary workers specifically employed to produce rolling tobacco, the company says. The manufacturing of this type of cigarettes is said to be no longer profitable, since an April 2006 decision by the European Unions Court of Justice ruled German tax distinctions between factory produced cigarettes and cigarettes assembled by smokers illegal.
