Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Samsung, the Korean electronics proup, is planning to expand the research centre established six years ago in Warsaw. 600 to 700 new employees will be hired for the centre by the end of 2007 (in addition to a present workforce of approximately 150). For the year 2006, Samsung has earmarked some $15 million for new departments and new engineering talent. The new departments will include one concentrating on digital television; its employees will write software for plasma and LCD television sets enabling reception of ground-based DTV.
