Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Indesit group of Italy, which presently operates two production facilities in the Łódź Special Economic Area, a stove factory and a refrigerator factory, wants to increase its output due to strong market growth. To this effect, it plans to hire 500 people for the two factories by the end of 2006, adding to a current workforce of 1600.
At the same time, Indesit is about to reach - within the next two months - a final decision concerning the location of its third Polish plant. It is expected that this new facility will have a target employment level of 1200. The company has not yet announced the type of white goods to be manufactured there.
