Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Telecommunications company Cable & Wireless announced plans to cut up to half its UK workforce on 28th February, shedding 3,000 jobs by the end of the decade as it tries to revive the fortunes of it's ailing UK business. The move is part of the strategy of the new head of the UK business, and the announcement has been met with anger by Unions at the company. The job losses are expected to particularly effect Cable & Wireless's headquarters in Bracknell, Berkshire, but it also has operations in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Reading.
