Description
German company ROL produces bearings and gear boxes for the car industry, computer ventilators and home appliances in Caldas da Rainha.
ROL managed to avoid delocalisation to Eastern Europe or China by introducing a fourth shift on Saturdays. This allowed an increase in production following the closure of a unit of the group in Germany.
The agreement between management and workers also foresees an increase in the number employed from presently 386 to 600 by 2010, as well as financial compensation, i.e. a productivity bonus and some additional 100 euros for those who work on Saturdays.
