Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Caroli Foods, one of the top three charcuterie producers in Romania, started building a new manufacturing plant for row-dried products in February 2006. Located in Piteşti (Sud region, Argeş county), the plant is the second one within the group and will attract investment worth €4 million.
The contruction of the raw-dried products plant covers only 40% of the 2006 investment budget. The group will also spend about €6 million to boost the production capacities of the existing plant, placed in the same location, Piteşti, as well as to improve the IT, logistics, and marketing systems.
The new production centre, with an area of 7,000 square metres, will become operational late this year and will create 150 jobs.
The chairman of Caroli Foods foresees turnover growing by 55% in 2006, which will take the deals to around €96 million . Over the last two years, the company's growth has gone beyond 40%. In 2006, it has a market share of 12% in meat products.
Caroli Foods had acquired several competitors in recent years, e.g. in December 2003 the company Gourmet.
