The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (Ministerul Economiei şi Comerţului (MEC) announced new redundancies in defence industry companies, as absence or shortage of demand for their products continues. ‘Companies in the defence industry have been operating below the threshold of profitability and have now reached a financial crisis', declared government representatives.
One such company is Avioane Craiova in Craiova (Dolj county, Sud-Vest region), which is to cut 150 jobs.
Avioane Craiova was established on 1 February 1972 and is one of Romania's major defense aviation products suppliers. Avioane Craiova provides a wide range of products and services for military and civil aircraft, aviation equipment, tools, jigs, testers, ground support equipment.
