Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Akzo Nobel NV's Chemicals subsidiary said it is going to close its MACC production facility in Delfzijl. Akzo Nobel intends to close the facility on 31 March 2006. The company said it will try to find other employment for the 33 staff working at the plant. Furthermore, Akzo Nobel foresees a total of 300 jobs to be cut during several reorganisations. The company is negotiating with unions to come to a general social plan, in order to try to find other employment for the 300 employees. The planned sale of certain activities would affect a further 600 jobs.
