Description
Russian-Japanese MPG Holding has decided to invest in Slovakia and establish a new production unit in the South of the country, where unemployment is traditionally high. Modern technology will be used for the production of bare silicon, which is used in the microelectronics industry. The environment will be properly protected due to the use of modern production methods and technologies. Raw materials will come from local as well as Russian sources. The Slovak Ministry of Economy intends to provide an investment stimulus for the foreign investor.
However, the project has run into difficulties in March, due to problems with selling the land, owned by the municipality. The problem was caused by a recent decision of the Slovak Government to temporarily stop the privatisation of national property.
According to the recent information, the above mentioned problem was solved and the production will start in the course of 2007.
