Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The manufacturer of mobile network equipment, Filtronic Comtek, announced on 12 September 2006 the start of personnel negotiations again. The negotiations concerned 140 blue-collar workers and 2 white-collar workers. Negotiations concluded on 1 November 2006 with the direct dismissal of 126 blue-collar workers and 1 white-collar worker. The company plans to continue transferring its production to China and Hungary. Filtronic Comtek already made 140 employees redundant in February 2006.
