Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
JP Morgan the international financial services firm is to increase its Scottish workforce by recruiting 100 new staff. The company will employ highly skilled software engineers at its European Technology Centre in Glasgow. The centre currently employs 600 staff and the expansion project is supported by £1.5 million of Scottish Executive funds. The centre designs and develops technology systems to support JP Morgan operations around the world. Jack Perry, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, added: 'This expansion emphasises the continuing strength of the financial services industry in Scotland. These will be highly skilled new jobs - exactly the sort of business we want to encourage to grow in Scotland.'
