Description
Alliance & Leicester the bank are to cut around 350 staff at offices in Merseyside as part of an efficiency drive. The posts will go through voluntary redundancies at Bootle, where the company employs 2,000 of its 8,000-strong workforce. The bank said efficiency improvements meant its UK call centre staff could now answer a higher number of enquiries usually handled by back office staff. Redundancies in 2006 are expected to cost the firm between £20 million and £25 million.
