Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Management of Trèves, a company working in the automotive accessories industry announced on 25 November 2005 a redundancy programme involving 700 job losses out of 2,900 workers in France. This decision concerns its nine sites: Ay-Champagne (Marne), Montcournet and Gauchy (Aisne), Etupes (Doubs), Ploërmel (Morbihan), Le Cateau-Cambrésis and Cambrai (Nord), Crépy-en-Valois (Oise) and Sandouville (Seine-Maritime). Reasons given are the decrease of sales prices combined with an increase of raw material's prices. Negociations are to begin in January 2006.
