Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The manufacturer of furniture Cauval Industries announced on 1 December 2005 the restructuring of several sites. The company will cut 335 jobs amongst the 1,500-strong workforce . 216 voluntary resignations are expected. The site of Luxeuil (Meurthe-et-Moselle) will be closed, 30 jobs will be suppressed in Séverac-le Château (Aveyron). Bar-Sur-Aube site will lose 117 jobs and 17 direct dismissals will affect the site of Lognes (Seine-et-Marne). Asian and Eastern Europe competition were reasons evoked behind the restructuring.
