Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 25 November 2005, the network of do-it-yourself shops Praktiker owned by the German group Metro, opened the third outlet in Craiova (Dolj county, Sud-Vest region), the result of an investment totalling EUR 7 million. The store has 120 employees and is the tenth of this kind in Romania.
On 13 April 2007, Praktiker Romania begins its expansion plan for 2007, opening the 17th store in Romania, located in Galati. The investment in the new store, with 100 employees, totalises approximately EUR 10 million.
Including the new project, Praktiker investments in Romania reached nearly EUR 150 million. In present the company employs over 2,000 persons. In 2006, the company reported a turnover of EUR 153.6 million, with 53.6% more than in 2005.
