Description

City-State of Berlin's treasurer Thilo Sarazzin said that Berlin was going to cut 20,000 jobs over the coming six to eight years. Another 10,000 jobs will be outsourced in 2005, as Berlin's districts are sourcing out Kindergardens. Around 4,500 civil servants leave naturally every year and the city will hire 1,000-1,500 new employees, so that 3,000 jobs will be cut each year. There shall be no direct dismissals, Sarazzin said. In 2012, Sarazzin wants to reach a level of 100,000, in line with administration of other German federal states.
