Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
After a six-months long investigation, Electrolux decided to initiate the closure of its appliances factory in Nuremberg, Germany. Production will gradually be moved to Poland and Italy. Closure of the factory is expected to be completed by the end of 2007. Electrolux has decided to invest in Poland for several reasons: availability of workforce, favourable transport conditions (both road and railroad) as well as engagement and good will of the local authorities. The company already has a plant in Siewierz and is now constructing other white goods plants in Oława, Żarów and Świdnica. The company will eventually employ more than 1,000 Poles.
