Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On Thursday 7 October 2005, Management of Sony Belgium announced the suppression of 119 positions. The company is also planning to outsource its call-centre based in Zaventem (110 employees) and its Londerzeel repair centre. Consequently, some employees working in both sites should be relocated to the new subcontractor.
187 people are currently working at Londerzeel. 78 will be dismissed and 30 will be relocated. At the Zaventem offices, 41 jobs are to be lost while 100 jobs will be outsourced. Unions requested a change in the measures including a decrease of dismissals.
