Description
The rail haulage company Railion, based in Germany, which took over the national Danish Railways Goods in 2002, will close down the activities of rail haulage in Denmark. One hundred employees will be made redundant in 2006 due to the restructuring. In the future, Railion will transport goods from Sweden to Germany as transit goods through Denmark along a main corridor from Malmö to Padborg close to the Danish-German border in Jutland. The original objective to transport goods on Danish rails has thus failed. Railion's Danish headquarters are based in Glostrup in Great Copenhagen.
