Santovka plant is an organisational unit of Slovak Západoslovenské žriedla, a company a long tradition (since 1838) in producing mineral waters. Santovka brand is the most famous mineral water in Slovakia also used for medical treatment purposes. Santovka plant was closed because the current technology did not match the EU standards required for mineral water production. A small part of the dismissed employees were relocated to another plant located in the nearby village of Slatina, where mineral water is produced, too. Company management plans to invest around SKK 30-50 million into a new technology and re-start the production by 2007.
