Description

Go Foods, whose headquarters are in Cwmbran, South Wales has gone into administration. The company which employs 135 people in south Wales is part of a group which includes other companies, and two smaller plants at Bath and Reading, employing a further 106 people, have also closed. Production has stopped and the majority of the workforce was laid off before administrators KPMG were appointed on Wednesday. Jonathan Pope, joint administrator and director at KPMG, said: 'The company had expanded through several mergers and acquisitions but unfortunately the new group has not proved to be financially viable. Neil Taylor of the Federation of Small Businesses Wales said small companies were under enormous pressure, particularly with supermarkets following a 'very aggressive policy' of sourcing food cheaply.
