Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The US-based company Lear Corporation has chosen to open a factory on Wearside, creating 250 jobs. The Car parts supplier will set up a base at the Rainton North Business Park, near Sunderland. The project is a joint venture with Japanese company Tachi-S and is to be known as Tacle (UK) Ltd. Council leader Bob Symonds said: 'I'm delighted that one of the world's leading automotive component companies has chosen to locate in Sunderland and create 250 skilled jobs'. The new factory is expected to open in 2006.
