Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Wendre is one of the largest domestic textile product manufacturers in the Northern Europe. In 2005, the company with its 550 employees is one of the largest employers in Pärnu county. It has production units in Vändra and Võhma and in mid-September 2005, opened a new factory in Pärnu. The company's investments into new factory were 300 million kroons and new production unit is employing 250 workers. The company makes quilts, pillows and foam products. In 2006, Wendre is planning to produce 7 million quilts and 10 million pillows. Company's turnover in 2004 was 420 million kroons and profit 54.6 million kroons. More than 90% of the company's products are exported into the Northern and Western Europe, but also into the United States and Asia.
