Description

Tesco is the most successful hypermarket network operating in Slovakia. Tesco Stores SR achieved a 17% turnover increase and created 590 new jobs in the first half of 2005. The company management decided to extend the company's operation in the country and announced the opening of five new hypermarkets till the end of 2005. According to Tesco Stores CEO Phil J. Clarke, Tesco plans to operate 32 hypermarkets and five stores in Slovakia till the end of 2005.

In April 2006, Tesco reported that Tesco Stores units in Slovakia has created 1,480 new jobs in 2005. Tesco announced plans for the establishment of seven new department stores and some petrol stations in Slovakia. New commercial units will create around 900 new jobs in 2006.
