Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Approximately 200 jobs are to be cut at the aircraft maintenance facility at Dublin airport owned by the Swiss firm SR Technics. The facility currently employs 1,200, and has struggled to make a profit in the face of increased competition from the Far East and Eastern Europe. The company is seeking the redundancies as part of a recovery plan. SR Technics acquired the facility for €47 million in 2004 from FLS Aerospace.
