Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The county council of Värmland needs to save some 140 million SEK per year and has decided to reduce its staff by 300 (100 in the community service sector and 200 in the health sector). According to Tore Olsson, director of the county council, the saving plan will lead to the direct dismissal of 50 — 100 people, the remaining job reductions being achieved through measures like non-renewal of fix-term contracts and natural leaves.
