Description
Dutch refuse collectors producer Geesink in Emmeloord, northern Netherlands, will cut 100 of its 250 jobs in the next few months. The complete restructuring programme will become clear as late as in September 2005. The company produces annually hundreds of refuse collectors. The company employed 500 several years ago. Geesink cut dozens of jobs also in 2004. According to Dutch trade union FNV manager M. Zwart, the decreasing sales are the reason for the restructuring. The sales of the new models of refuse collectors are not in line with the expectations while a big part of the production of the older models has been outsourced to Romania, Zwart said. Zwart is not convinced yet of the necessity of the restructuring, as well as of the fact that the company's sales have really decreased so strongly.
