Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dutch car maker NedCar in Born will cut 668 jobs, trade union FNV Bondgenoten and the workers' council of NedCar said on 12 July 2005. Due to the creation of a detachment fund, 300 of the redundant employees wil be able to temporarily retain their jobs. The remaining 368 employees have been informed that they would be laid off in September 2005. NedCar's employees who have joined the detachment fund, will keep their jobs for a period of 2.5 years, and will retain their income safety and current employment conditions. NedCar currently has some 3,900 employees. The company has been facing a strong overcapacity in the past months.
