Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In July 2005, Japanese company Daikin Industries, global leader in the air conditioning systems industry, opened its new plant for the production of air conditioning for home in “Borská pole”, industrial area of Plzeň (Pilsen). It was reported that the project with investment reaching nearly 100 million USD created over 550 jobs and that overall 1,200 employees should have been working there by 2006. On 14 May 2007, the company announced a further expansion and the need to increase the current staff of 1,600 with at least 100 people.
