Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hewlett Packard has announced a worldwide redundancy programme to be implemented by the end of 2006. The objective is to save $1.9 billion in computer, human resources and financial departments. Management announced on 19 July 2005 the suppression of 14,500 jobs and a reorganisation of three departments in order to improve efficiency and strengthen up ties between marketing and sales actions.
