Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Manufacturer of computers and printers Hewlett Packard, which in 2005 announced to lay off almost 1,500 employees by the end of 2006, has reduced its staff size by 1,000 jobs due a favourable development in the last months. On 19 December 2006 HP announced that the restructuring programme had come to a successful end and no further reductions were intended.
