As a consequence of a reorganisation process of Olivetti, part of the present production of printers and tellers of the Agliè plant will be transferred to Malaysia. R&D and marketing activities will remain at Agliè, as well as some limited productions. The unions are opposing this restructuring plan and have already called strikes and demonstrations. According to the company management, the employees made redundant by the relocation of production will be retrained and assigned to new production lines. The reorganisation plan envisages €200 million investments in the 2005-2007 period.
