Description

Since it was set up in 2002, the National Environment Guard (Garda Naţională de Mediu, GNM) has been successively reorganised, with the last restructuring approved by Government Decision no. 440 of 26 May 2005. In line with the new regulatory framework, the number of positions has grown from 605 to 748 for GNM's central and local structures.

With reference to this topic, Chief Commissioner Silvian Ionescu declared that a proposal had been submitted to the Government, requesting an even higher number of additional positions. ‘Bearing in mind European Union requirements, another 150 technicians, secondary education graduates, would be necessary. Our request however was not approved by the Ministry of Public Finance (Ministerul Finanţelor Publice, MFP).'

The 143 vacancies will be filled by organising recruitment campaigns in the coming weeks. The Head of GNM also declared that 50 positions for entry-level commissioners are scheduled to be filled by this year's higher education graduates.
