Description
Chemical giant BASF is to establish a daughter company serving its European affiliates in Berlin. The centre will offer accounting and financial services for BASF's subsidiaries and employ 600 people. Berlin was in competition with Middle and Eastern European cities for the new centre and won despite higher wages. The availability of personnel with good foreign language skills and the trade union's flexibility in its negotiations with BASF played important roles in BASF's decision.
