Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Slovak Railways dismissed 2105 employees in 2005. That was more (by 673 employees)than the management had originally planned. The dismissals decreased the annual labour cost of the company by SKK 113 million. Employment in Railways was reduced to 19,663 employees by the end of 2005. According to the company management further staff reduction is foreseen in 2006-7.
In 2004, Slovak Railways had already reduced their staff by 1,136 employees. Already then, the dismissals exceeded the original the plan which forsaw only 723 redundancies.
