Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In April 2005, Bosch, the German manufacturer of accessories for the automotive industry, has announced the delocalisation of a part of its production of windscreen wipers to Romania. The site of Tirlemont will see its workforce reduced by 264. 124 jobs will be lost by the end of 2006 and 140 jobs will be suppressed in a second phase, in order to improve efficiency. Negotiations are to begin in May 2005.
