Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The pharmaceutical company, Ferring, announced on 5 April 2005 that the 50 year-old factory in Vanløse (Copenhagen) will be phased out by the end of 2008. 213 employees will be made redundant. Furthermore, the company plans to cut around 100 jobs in the new building in the so-called Medicon Valley (Ørestad) close to the airport. The production in Vanløse will be moved to Switzerland, where the headquarters are based, and to the Czech Republic. The company will try to replace the 100 employees in Ørestad with more researchers.
