Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish Parliament has approved on 15 December 2004 the proposal of the government regarding the modernisation and the reorganisation of the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten). Some 3,000 officers and 2,500 civil workers will be laid off in the context of this reorganisation effort, which aims at adapting the Swedish army to the new international environment and the new threats, i.e terrorism and international criminality. About 10 military bases (Östersund, Strängnäs, Göteborg, Halmstad, Arvidsjaur, Uppsala, Haninge/Berga, Visby and Karlskrona) will be closed down while others will be reorganised (Kristinehamn, Hammarö, Karlstad, Vaxholm and Haninge/Berga).
