Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Thule Sweden, which produces load carriers for cars, announced that it was going to cut 70 jobs at its plant in Hillerstorp, where 320 workers are currently employed. Negotiations with trade unions have already started and are expected to be finalised by the end of May 2005. According to Peter Kral, President Division Car Accessories Europe/Asia, the focus has been put on expansion rather than on production effectiveness in recent years and it is now time for the company to review its production flows in order to strengthen its competitiveness.
