Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Porta company (Arad, Vest region) has just begun production after investment of more than €8 million. The company is part of the Polish group Porta, one of the largest manufacturers of doors in Europe. The Romanian factory takes up to 11,000 square meters in the industrial area of Arad, but already owns the land to expand up to 33,000 square meters.
For its first year of activity, Porta targets a minimum 35% market share in Romania (a turnover of €5 million) but a part of the output will go to Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine and Russia.
The facility has a production capacity of 100,000 doors per month. It currently employs around 100 people, but given its plans of expansion and an additional investment of more than €24 million, employees’ number will rise up to 300, starting from 2006.
The management stated that Porta has begun to export part of its production and is already the largest manufacturer of its kind in Romania.
