Description
The traditional Berlin-based food retailer Reichelt which was bought by Edeka Group in 2002, wants to expand its operations in Berlin. 25 to 30 markets will be opened in the coming years. About 1,000 jobs will be created in the process. High price retailers like Edeka have to battle with discounters like Aldi and Lidl by means of introducing low-price goods into their assortment. In Reichelt's take-over by Edeka in 2002, 140 jobs were lost, when the two administrations were merged.
