Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Durobor, the glass manufacturer, has announced a restructuring plan. 88 workers will be made redundant. Half of the affected workers will benefit from early retirement measures, the other half will be dismissed by 31 March 2005. 363 workers are to remain on the site. Assets of the company are also to be sold to finance a new investment programme, and trainings of employees will be implemented.
In October 2004, a previous restructuring had already made 83 employees redundant.
