Description
It is now believed that 450 jobs could be cut at a microchip factory owned by Dutch electronics group Philips in Hamburg. A dispute has been continuing since October 2004 regarding a reduction in labour costs at the site, and no progress has been made in negotiations. Philips is reported to have said that a fifth of the jobs at the site could be cut unless an agreement is reached. The factory employs 2,200 staff in total.
