Description
Since 2004, the French public assistance has planed a large restructuring plan, which began with an 850 non-medical job cuts at Hôpitaux de Paris (Paris hospitals) in 2004. This plan continues with a suppression of 1,820 jobs for the period 2005-2009 in the administrative and technical units. The restructuring announced on 17 March 2005 does not involve direct dismissals but jobs won't be renewed when people get retired. However, unions protested against the decision and went on strike on 21 March 2005.
