Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dutch telecommunications company Royal KPN NV will cut some 8,000 jobs between 2005 and 2009, the company said on 1 March 2005. The company will cut between 1,500 and 1,750 jobs per year. The job cuts are expected to lead to annual cost cut of €850 million ($1.1 billion) from 2010. KPN estimated the annual costs cut for the period 2005-2007 at €150 million ($198 million) and for the period 2008-2009 at €200 million ($264 million).
