Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Johnson Controls announced on 4 March 2005 231 job cuts out of 1070. This decision concerns the Strasbourg and Schweighouse-sur-Moder manufactures specialized in the production of automotive parts. The company had already suppressed 300 jobs in 2002 and announced in April 2004 the closure of the Harnes manufacture (Nord). The reason given is the fall in the turnover. However, the company is to invest in modern technology in order to improve its competitiveness.
