Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The primary aluminium producer Kubikenborg Aluminium (Kubal) will cut 70 jobs in Sundsvall instead of 80 as initially planned. 45 workers have already been given notice and 14 have been proposed early retirement schemes. 400 people are currently employed by the company in Sundsvall. The reasons put forward by the company for implementing this redundancy plan are low profitability, high electricity costs and technical improvements.
