Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
A paper mill in Aberdeen is to close with the loss of at least 250 jobs. BPB Paperboard announced the closure of the Davidson Mill in Bucksburn. The company said the factory, which produces 225,000 tonnes of paper a year, was unable to meet the technological demands of the industry.
The mill employs 276 people but only a small number are expected to be offered jobs elsewhere in the company. It is expected to close finally in June 2005.
